
Medical Coder - RN
Falconet Precise Coding Solutions is seeking a talented and experienced Medical Coder | RN to join our team. As a Medical Coder specializing in home health medical coding, you will utilize your clinical expertise and coding skills to ensure accurate and compliant coding of home health services. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely and contribute to the success of our growing company.
Responsibilities:
Assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes to home health services based on documentation provided by healthcare providers.
Review clinical documentation, including physician notes, nursing assessments, therapy evaluations, and other relevant records, to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
Ensure that all coding assignments comply with regulatory requirements, including Medicare guidelines, local coverage determinations (LCDs), and national coverage determinations (NCDs).
Collaborate with clinical staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team to clarify documentation and resolve coding-related queries.
Conduct thorough reviews of patient medical records to identify and resolve coding discrepancies, errors, or missing information.
Stay current with changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement policies affecting home health services.
Participate in coding audits and quality assurance activities to monitor and improve coding accuracy and compliance.
Maintain strict confidentiality and security standards when handling patient health information, including adherence to HIPAA regulations.
Communicate effectively with coding team members, clinicians, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely coding processes.
Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies, procedures, and training programs to support consistent and standardized coding practices.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure in the United States required.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential or equivalent coding certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, with specific experience in home health coding highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT procedure coding, and HCPCS coding systems.
Familiarity with Medicare regulations, documentation requirements, and reimbursement policies related to home health services.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation and apply coding guidelines accurately.
Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and quality in coding assignments.
Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a remote work environment.
HIPAA certification is a must.
